Our aim is to provide the highest quality of education possible for children in the school. We aim to develop:

  • high levels of attainment in the key skills of literacy and numeracy
  • skills in observation, information-seeking, posing questions and problem-solving
  • the ability to apply knowledge and skills to unfamiliar situations
  • the ability to co-operate and work productively with others, as well as to work and learn independently

In an informal yet structured setting, children are encouraged to develop at their own pace, acquire self-confidence and independence in a stimulating environment.

A thorough grounding in the core skills of literacy and numeracy are essential foundations for future learning, and a strong emphasis is placed on these skills. Results in the Standard Assessment Tasks of the National Curriculum has been excellent, indicating that many children are working at a level well in advance of their age.

We aim to develop enquiring, investigative minds through our approach to science, history and geography, and to awaken and nurture creative abilities through imaginative arts programme including are design technology, dance and drama.

In the technological age in which we live, we recognise how vital it is that children develop computer skills from the earliest age: regular lessons in computing feature for every child using the superb facilities at the Pre as well as the multi-media machines that are in every classroom.
