Year 1 - Vet Visit!

On Thursday 30th November the children in Year 1 swapped the classroom for a ‘Vet’s Surgery’, real animals included!

Mr. Bush, Director of The Downs Veterinary Practice in Stoke Bishop and Dad to Felix in Reception, very kindly gave his time to bring this exciting experience to the children.

MRI scans and X-rays were analysed, tablets administered, heart beats listened to and even Mrs. Glover’s reflexes were checked!

Cornflake the corn snake, Eeyore the black Lab (yes a real dog!) and Suzy and Stephanie the Guinea Pigs all behaved beautifully.

Eeyore was bandaged all over as was the toy dog and most of the children helped by the Vet nurses.

A very big thank you goes to Mr. Bush, his staff and pets from everyone in Year1. It was a wonderful afternoon and it gave the children an insight into how a vet helps in looking after your pets.
