Butcombe mark the Jubilee

Butcombe mark the Jubilee

Jubilee Plate Painting Day, Monday 21 May

Jubilee plate painting

The Bretten Memorial Hall was a hive of industry recently when Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 all took turns to paint their Jubilee Plates to celebrate the Queen’s 60th year on the throne. In the build-up to the day each of the children had carefully planned their designs on paper plates which were then all put on display in the Butcombe School Hall. The Hall was a sea of colour and drew many admiring glances from visitors.

On the day the children excitedly transferred their design from their paper plate onto their actual plate. Once they had finished painting their plates were then collected to be taken off to be fired in a kiln.

I am sure the finished results will all be very striking and a lovely way to mark the Queen’s 60th year and we look forward to seeing them all on display in Butcombe soon.
