Sri Lanka Day

Sri Lanka Day

The children and staff at Butcombe, celebrated Sri Lankan Independence Day in style by learning more about their twin school, Kamburugamuwa West on the South Coast of Sri Lanka, and through participating in activities designed to increase their knowledge and understanding of life in India and Sri Lanka.

We coloured our flags and took them to lunch. We had a choice of two curries with our rice. My favourite was part of the meal was the naan bread.

I enjoyed the Bollywood dancing, some of the hand positions were tricky. My favourite part of the day was looking at the teachers in their sarees.

My favourite part of Sri Lanka Day was playing musical games with the Sarod teacher. I learnt that the sarod has 25 strings.

We wore beautiful clothes and pretended to go shopping in the market.
