Leah Ellen Heming, Illustrator Visit

Butcombe children were last week treated to a visit by illustrator Leah Ellen Heming as part of the Bath Literature Festival. Leah spoke to the children about the process she goes through to create her vivid and colourful characters for children’s books. With help from the enthusiastic audience, Leah created a tiger and a dragon to the great amusement of all.

Leah also read stories from books where her illustrations are used including “Who ever heard of a tiger with a pink hat” and “Cinder the bubble blowing dragon”, to the delight of the children.

Rachel Griffiths, who organised the day, commented that “The day was a great success, and the children enjoyed every minute. Many of them now want to be an illustrator when they are older.”

Leah’s recent illustrations can be seen in Meadowside Children’s Book range.
