Clifton College WebsiteOlympians visit the PreThe Preparatory School was thrilled to welcome two Olympians this week. David Anthony, a Paralympian wheelchair rugby player, inspired children from Years 4, 5 and 6 with how he discovered wheelchair rugby and the thrill and excitement he felt representing his country. The pupils had a demonstration of the training David does and even had the chance to do a long range throwing exercise with him! ![]() Later in the week Olympic synchronised swimmer Anastasija Bates amazed the pupils with a display of synchronised swimming in the School pool, showing her individual routine as well as her group routine for Team GB. The pupils discovered that Anastasija gets up at 4.30am in the morning to train before completing a full day a school! Anastasija was joined in the pool by two Pre pupils, Imogen Stagg and Sammy Welsh, who eagerly learnt several moves including the ‘egg beater’! David Anthony has been successfully selected for Team GB’s wheelchair rugby squad for the Paralympics in 2012 and Anastasija is waiting selection in September for the Olympics in 2012. We wish them every success and look forward to seeing them at The Pre next academic year for our Olympic Week. ![]() A special thank you goes to one of our parents Dr Sayers, who is employed by Lloyds TSB who, as one of the official sponsors of the 2012 Olympics, made it possible for our pupils to experience such inspirational athletes.
