Butcombe Book Fair

The Butcombe Book Fair took place in October. This is always a very exciting day in the Butcombe calendar. As well as promoting reading, and a love of books, the children had the opportunity to come to school dressed as a character from our theme. This year the theme was ‘Time Machine’. A lot of thought went into the costumes of both the children and staff!

In their classes throughout the day the children also participated in a number of historical activities.

The highlight of the day is always the Grand Parade, all children paraded around the playground in their costumes giving everyone an opportunity to see the wonderful creations and to identify the characters or time in history they are from.

After the parade, parents had a chance to browse the Book Fair and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a cake.

A big thank you once again to all the parents and staff for their support at the Book Fair. £1,521.94 was made on the day of which Butcombe, the second hand books stall made £68 which will be used to buy books for the Butcombe library. The sale of tea, coffee and cakes made £303.70 and this money will be donated to a literacy charity.
