Clifton College WebsiteOlympic Torch passes the Pre!![]() The morning started bright and early with refreshments in the Pre Hall for parents and staff before everyone made the short walk across Whatley. Pre pupils excitedly lined the road between Whatley and the Downs with union jack flags and eagerly awaited the first sighting of the Olympic Torch, in the glorious sunshine the first sighting of the police out riders gave everyone a few minutes warning and then the cheering broke out as the Torch was in sight. ![]() The Olympic Torch was carried past the Pre by Ruth Williams, 65, from Bristol who was nominated through the LOCOG campaign, not only has she helped hundreds of people and families, but she has also battled against and overcome cancer twice whilst continuing to cook weekly lunches for a large group of OAPs, worked in a charity shop, supported at a contact centre, and set up various clubs and groups.
