Clifton College WebsiteButcombe NewsletterDr Wendy Bowring, the Headmistress of Clifton College's Butcombe Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School, writes a regular newsletter for parents and friends of the school. NewsletterDear Parents, Apologies for sending you a mid-week newsletter this week rather than on Friday, but there are a few things I need to remind you of as soon as possible. Firstly though, I hope everyone enjoyed our Olympic Sports Day on Monday - we certainly all did! It was a colourful celebration befitting of the Olympic year, and I was immensely proud of all the children’s efforts. Thanks again to all the staff who put such a great deal of energy into the build-up of the Games, especially Mrs Askew, and to the Pre Year 7 pupils who helped to make the morning run so smoothly. Parents’ Interview EveningsThe children’s school reports are coming home to you on Monday, 2nd July, and we are holding our formal Parents’ Evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday, 3rd and 4th July, from 4.00 p.m. – 6.15 p.m.. The lists for appointments with your child’s teacher will be placed in the usual positions – on the Butcombe front door for Year 3, by the back door for Reception, Year 1 and 2, and inside the Nursery for Nursery children tomorrow morning, so you can sign up to select a suitable appointment time. Mrs Townsend’s list can be found on the back door, and if you wish to see Mrs Gillam about music, she will be in attendance on Tuesday and her form is also on the back door. Ballet and TapIf you have not already done so this week, you are invited to come in to see your child in his/her ballet or tap lesson at the following times: Wednesday, 4th July: Happy HourHappy Hour takes place on Monday, 2nd July, at 8.45 a.m. – 9.30 a.m., and again from 2.30 p.m. – 3.15 p.m. Please come in and share with your child the work they have done this term. Romeo and JulietAttached to this Newsletter is a flier about the Upper school production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It is a unique event, and I hope that some of you will be able to attend. Fashion and Music Show, Thursday 5th JulyA reminder that a Fashion and Music Show is taking place in the marquee on Thursday, 5th July, 5.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. Tickets cost £10.00, concession £5.00 (children and OAPS). Chess Success!Congratulations go to Daniel Spencer in 3R who was invited to join the Pre Chess Team for the Delancey UK Schools’ Chess Challenge 2012. His certificate classes him as a ‘megafinalist’, which means he has qualified for the next round that takes place in Derby next month. This, in practice, is the national semi-finals. In order to qualify, Daniel had to win two out of his three matches at the Gloucestershire County Championship in Cheltenham in May. Good luck, Daniel! We look forward to hearing how it went when the new term begins, so do come back and tell us! With best wishes, ![]() 28 June 2012 © 2006-12 Clifton College | Clifton College NewsNewsletter The Paris Wife, By Paula McLain Clifton College Equestrian Team | ||||||
