Athletics Success

Clifton College have five athletes selected to represent Avon Schools in the:

Aviva ESAA English Schools' 82nd Track and Field Championships 2012

In previous years Clifton have had up to two athletes in these prestigious championships so the selection of five students is an amazing accomplishment. The athletes have qualified by either winning the South West Championships or by attaining a National Entry Standard, and the Avon County team have selected 34 athletes.

These championships are to be held on the 6th and 7th July at Gateshead Stadium and the finals will be televised live by Sky Sports.

Senior Boys:
Kwame Fordwor 100m
James Diamond Long Jump

Senior Girls:
Lily Owsley 800m
Tor Kenny 3000m

Intermediate Boys:
Freddie Owsley 400m

Although this is a new achievement for four of the athletes, Kwame and Lily have reached the National Finals before, with Kwame finishing 6th overall and Lily finishing 3rd in her final. Both athletes will be hoping for an improved performance this year.
