Clifton College WebsiteProm on the CloseProm on The Close is the highlight of the Clifton social calendar. It's quite simply the very best party of the year. ![]() The Prom is now in its eighth year. Headliners for 2009 are the internationally-lauded soprano Natasha Marsh and tenor Nicky Spence, two rising stars in the classical music world. They will be conducted by the flamboyant Jae Alexander (making a very welcome return to the Prom), and will be ably supported by the nationally-acclaimed Emerald Ensemble, with performances by Clifton College pupils and the Chapel Choir. We are delighted to be working this year in association with the University of Bristol in celebrating their Centenary year. Tania Jane Rawlinson, the University's Director of Campaigns and Alumni Relations, said 'The Prom on The Close is one of the highlights of the University's centenary alumni weekend, the biggest event for former students the university has ever hosted. We are very excited about joining forces with Clifton College for the Prom on The Close.' Our nominated charity for 2009 is Children's Hospices UK. Tracy Tait, Fundraiser at Children's Hospices UK, said 'We are very excited to be the chosen charity for this year's Prom on The Close. It is fantastic to be involved with such a prestigious event. We hope that concert-goers will help make a real difference to the children, young people and families who rely on children's hospice services for vital support.' This year's Prom is again sponsored by Ashfords Solicitors and is set to be the very best ever, with outstanding music set against one of the most beautiful backdrops imaginable. Bring your friends, bring a picnic and be prepared for a fantastic evening of entertainment and fun. There really is no finer way to spend a summer's evening - so chill the champagne, sit back, relax and enjoy the show...
