Clifton College WebsiteKamburugamuwa DayChildren and parents began at 8.15am creating a line of coins around the playground to represent the distance of 8500 kilometres from Butcombe to Kamburugamuwa. They exceeded their target of 85 metres and managed an amazing 200 metres - raising over £300 to support Kamburugamuwa, their twin school, in adding further resources to their English Activity Room. ![]() ![]() Prerna Chandiramani of Bollywood Dance gave the children an exciting introductory session to Bollywood dancing and those who watched the performances at the end of the day were impressed by the children's enthusiasm and concentration. ![]() ![]() Throughout the day the children took a closer look at aspects of Sri Lankan culture relating to their current topics and discovering the similarities as well as the differences between life in Sri Lanka and England. Children in the Nursery decorated their bikes and trucks, turning them into Sri Lankan buses and tuk-tuks. Reception and Year 1 were fascinated by Sri Lankan animals; particularly the elephants and Year 2 learnt how the tsunami caused such devastation to the South coast of Sri Lanka. Having exchanged letters with their pen pals in Kamburugamuwa earlier in the year, Year 3 spent the morning working on a project entitled "Our Community" to be sent to Kamburugamuwa School and are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kamburugamuwa's project. 8 June 2009 © 2006-10 Clifton College | Clifton College NewsGCSE results Tectona Sailing Away Days 2010 A level results | ||||||
