Clifton College WebsiteMalorie Blackman visitOn Thursday 18th June, the Pre had a visit from the famous children's author Malorie Blackman, writer of such books as the popular "Noughts and Crosses" Series and "Pig Heart Boy", which was recently met with great acclaim when it was adapted for television. Malorie Blackman met in the afternoon with years 7 and 8 in the Pre Hall and delivered some captivating readings from both "Pig Heart Boy" and "Double Cross" which left the children hooked and entreating to know what happens next. Malorie Blackman's work is known for being equally popular with the boys as with the girls and deals with some very contemporary and contentious issues that face young people today. During her visit she also previewed a video book trailer for "Double Cross". After the talk, the children had the opportunity to buy copies of her books and have them signed by the author herself in the Library. This was an exciting affair and the children who were only just containable at the prospect of meeting the celebrity, some brought copies from home to be signed and many used the time to ask the author questions. A great rapport was built up between Malorie and the children from the outset and there was laughter from both sides throughout the occasion.
