Butcombe Book Fair

Butcombe Book Fair

Butcombe Book Fair was another huge success this year, the day started bright and early with Miss Ramsay organising bacon rolls and croissants in the SCR Cafe with the money raised going towards the 'Pink for October' campaign (www.pinkforoctober.org) which is raising money for breast cancer awareness.

Each year the Book Fair takes a theme and this year it was The Sea, and all children and staff came to school dressed in an appropriately themed costume with the children (and staff) once again excelling in their outfit creations.

Throughout the day the aim is to promote books and reading with the children participating in sea-themed activities in their classrooms.

At 2pm the children proudly showed off their wonderful costumes in the Grand Parade around the playground in front of proud parents and staff, after which the Book Fair opened in the Bretten Memorial Hall, and parents were invited to browse the large selection of books for sale whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and a cake.

As part of our Book Fair celebration Butcombe is linking up with BookStart, an independent national charity which encourages people of all ages and cultures to discover and enjoy reading and children who will be four this year were presented with a small book pack called a Treasure Chest.
