Paper Workshop
On Wednesday 10 February the artist Maxine Relton, of the RWA, came to the Art Department in the Upper School to deliver a “Celebrating Paper” workshop to our Fourth Form GCSE Art students.
Maxine is a very successful artist and an experienced teacher who takes an imaginative and experimental approach. She brought along examples of her own work as well as a range of tools and materials, and began the day by getting our students to construct their own book.
Maxine followed this by taking them to visit the “Celebrating Paper” exhibition at the RWA, which is devoted exclusively to contemporary works made out of paper. She gave lectures on pieces within the exhibition and guided the group around selected exhibits.
The afternoon was spent back in the Art Department producing paper sculptures. The students were proud of the results they achieved and they have widened their creative skills as well as extended their knowledge.
