Portrait Painting Workshop

On Wednesday 24 February the Art Department hosted a portrait painting workshop for our Sixth Form Art students, lead by David Cobley RWA, a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

David is a very sought-after portraitist whose clients have included Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, the actor Stephen Berkoff, the comedian Ken Dodd and many others. He began by giving a slideshow and a talk about his life and work followed by a portrait painting demonstration in oils from a live model.

The students then produced a portrait sketch in oils of their own, under his guidance. Our thanks once more to David for providing this excellent opportunity for our students, they had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
