Clifton College WebsiteRugby Festival 2010The sun shone and the excellent rugby matched the wonderful backdrop of the historic Close at Clifton. Twelve Prep schools (Abberley Hill, All Hallows, Chafyn Grove, Colet Court, The Downs School, Millfield, Mount House, Perrott Hill, Pinewood, Sedbergh Junior School and St John’s, and of course The Pre) attended the Early Season Rugby Festival, held annually at Clifton College. The idea behind the Festival is to allow Prep schools to experiment with their squads of twenty two players, try different positions and manage their personnel. For this reason there are no winners or losers, it is truly ‘a festival of rugby’. The lack of an overall competition removes the temptation for each school to play their best 15 boys in every match, but it enables the master in charge to know his best side by the end of the day. There were some excellent games with free-flowing rugby throughout the festival. Rugby football was definitely the winner and we wish all the teams well as they move into their new rugby season. 16 September 2010 © 2006-12 Clifton College | Clifton College NewsClifton trumps the weather!
