Reporting to the Bursar, this role will assume responsibility for the Finance function plus, in the first instance, 2 other critical Support functions, with the scope to extend this remit over time.

As such, the Assistant Bursar will initially be responsible for 3 direct reports (Finance, ICT and Procurement) and the setting of budgets and management of these areas. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Bursar in developing a vibrant and commercially progressive culture across all school operations and Support departments.

  • Currently working in a senior Finance role at Financial Controller or Finance Director level, within a commercial, modern, progressive and profit-focused environment.

You must also be:

  • Above all, able to demonstrate strong people skills and team management abilities; ideally where reports and direct reports are multi-functional - from senior executives to more junior staff.
  • An energetic, ambitious and highly capable finance professional able to drive the process of change and modernising throughout all these departments which together comprise the operations of the school.
  • Proactive in approach and able to manage people, projects and programmes effectively and intelligently.
  • Able to take ‘ownership’ of initiatives and programmes across a multi-departmental remit and able to adopt a pre-emptive and ‘problem-solving’ approach rather than one which is reactive and passive.
