Schools Competition Act Settlement Trust

During 2005, fifty schools in the independent sector were the subject of an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) into the sharing of fee information. The OFT found that any sharing of information that might have taken place did not have any effect on the level of fees charged but, as part of the agreed resolution of the investigation, the schools involved agreed to make ex gratia payments into a charitable trust designed to benefit pupils who attended the schools during the period in respect of which the fee information was shared. Further details of the Trust and how to apply for grants may be found at the SCAST website.
