"On the 24th February, Year 7 went on a trip to Caerleon. I was very excited. The journey was long, but it was worth it!"

"My favourite object was the strigil because it was so useful back in those days."

"Tintern was founded in 1131 for Cistercian monks and rebuilt by Roger Bigod"

"I also liked how the baths had been dug up – you could see where they all swam/ bathed."

"The trip to Caerleon was interesting, cold – but interesting!"

"It was fascinating to learn how archaeologists found ornaments like gems and milk teeth."

"The stones had tiny pictures of whoever the owner thought was idle (should be idol!!)"

"What was really interesting was how the ground was heated."

"My most exciting part of the trip was that I got to try on the armour of the legionary."

"My most exciting part was the amphitheatre because I really felt how the gladiators felt."

"The highlight of Caerleon was the history."

"I really enjoyed going to the Museum because it has some really interesting things. My favourite was a picture where you could see three faces from three different angles."

"The best bit was first seeing the remains of the fort."

"It was amazing to see how fit all the soldiers had to be to wield a sword and run for miles with their armour on."

"I enjoyed the part where they showed us how the soldiers would be dressed...I was a tiny bit disappointed that we couldn’t have a small sword fight!"

"My favourite bit was when Mr Milligan showed us the place where the Second Augustan legion, which was one of the most important legions, had their baths."

"I liked the blocks of blocks (!) and the amphitheatre and really liked learning about this. Overall, I liked the whole trip and had a fun day out (and off school work for a day!!)"

"My best part was the amphitheatre because it still had the animal rooms and the room where the gladiators sat, just before they went out into the arena. I had a great time – thank you!"

"We went to see the ruins of Tintern abbey and the sight of that was just phenomenal."

"My favourite bit of the journey was going to Tintern Abbey. Even though it was a bit dim in the weather, the monastery shone in all its greatness which gave me that extra pleasure being there."

"I thought the Abbey was huge. It was empty and hollow but was really nice."

"Thank you, Mr Siddall, for bringing us on this trip!"
