In early June pupils in Year 7 visited the Dorset coastline at West Lulworth as part of their Coastal Environments module. The fieldtrip was a new venture for the Geography Department in 2009 and we are very pleased that the new addition to the Year 7 curriculum was a great success.

The fieldtrip consisted of a walk along the coastal path from West Lulworth to Durdle Door; sketching the coastal landscape; a short lecture and geology lesson and then a guided walk around Stairhole and Lulworth Cove.

The scenery along this stretch of the Dorset coast is stunning and pupils were able to really appreciate and understand the natural features that are created by coastal erosion and deposition. Fortunately, for pupils and staff, the weather was dry and sunny and the landscape could be truly appreciated with views stretching right across to Chesil Beach.

A huge THANK YOU goes to all the staff that joined us on the fieldtrip and also to the Year 7s for a splendid fieldtrip experience.
