Information, Communication and Technology (ICT)
The ICT at Clifton is second to none. Not only does it boast 4 ICT suites, a mini-suite in the science department and a recording
studio in the Music Block, but it has new networked PCs in all classrooms and SMART interactive Whiteboards in all classrooms in Year 4
and 5 from September 2006.

Principal Aims
- To develop ICT capability
- To feel confident applying ICT skills in different contexts
- To explore new possibilities
- To communicate ideas and exchange information
Facilities
The are four computer suites in the Pre, both of which are linked to the extensive Clifton College Network. The suites
offer excellent facilities including state-of-the-art software, interactive whiteboards, projectors, robots, digital camers, colour
scanners and printers. There is also a full time technician on hand to support staff and children alike. Pupils will have access to the
computer suite which is always supervised by a member of staff.
All forms are timetabled for three lessons each fortnight. The lessons will be held in a purpose built Pre Suite, which is located
in the main building. Form teachers may also use the ICT facilities as part of the core and foundational subjects.
Each pupil will have access to an individual PC during lessons and given a unique username and password as well
as an email account. Boarders and day pupils can access resources at home and in their house by logging on to the Extranet.
Assessment
Pupils are assessed continuously throughout the year and this will form the basis for grades, reports and feedback
during Parent's evenings.
Pupils will study and undertake the internationally recognised ECDL/ICDL (European Computer Driving Licence/International Computer Driving Licence) in Years 7 and 8. Pupils are given a mock
examination before sitting the external formal examination. If the pupils are unsuccessful passing the exam they will
have another opportunity to re-sit in the summer.
Pupils are taught how to touch type correctly from their very first lesson in the Pre right until the time they leave us in Year 8.
