ICT in Year 4

Touch Typing

Clifton College is one of the few schools in the country that promotes touch typing. This skill is woven through the ICT programme of study from Year 4 right through to Year 8. Children receive formal lessons with one-to-one tuition in class and continuity is enhanced by fun, interactive, on-line resources such as Dance Mat and Type to Learn.
Touch-Typing

Word Processing

All the basic ingredients that one needs to have fun with words on the PC. Children are taught:

  • how to change the font, colour and size of letters.
  • how to align their work and use bullet points/numbering.
  • how to insert images and WordArt.

Branching Databases and Data Handling

Important cross-curricular links with other subjects create a solid grounding for children at this early stage of their Pre School years. The children are taught how to sort and handle data using Decisions3.

Graphic Design

From fish tanks to Symmetrical faces, the children let their imaginations run wild creating weird and whacky images on Fresco.

Roamer

Roamer

What chaos ensues when the Year 4s get their hands on these little blighters! Roamers give the children a fun introduction to programming and robotics.

Musical Composition

Future stars of the pop world are given the opportunity to create and record their own musical and vocal compositions… look out Robbie Williams and Girls Aloud!

Using the Internet

Surfing the net to find information and pictures... It’s a wonder that our Year 4s aren’t Google-eyed!!
