Clifton College WebsitePersonal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and CitizenshipPersonal, Social, Health and Economic Education and Citizenship help to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible adults.
Pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of their school and communities. In doing so, they learn to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. In PSHE lessons, pupils actively participate through role-play, questioning, debate and presentations. They reflect on their own experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They also find out about the main political and social institutions that affect their lives, and about responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and members of communities. They learn to understand and respect our common humanity, diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning. PSHE and Citizenship, of course, start within the family and is developed by the prevailing ethos of the school, as well as by the set curriculum. Our programme of study is complemented by teaching in many departments; by staff in the Health Centre and by the Chaplain; through School and House Assemblies and tutor groups – including visiting professionals and experts; and by the important role of the Housemasters and Housemistresses, Matrons, and others in pastoral positions. © 2006-12 Clifton College | Prep School NewsPres Athletics Success Family fun at the UK's largest free nature festival | ||||||||||||
