Scholarships and Bursaries

Each year a number of awards are offered to girls and boys in order for them to be able to come to Clifton. These are, broadly, in two categories:

Scholarships: these are merit based awards and are competed for via examination, audition or other appropriate assessment. Candidates are placed in a rank order of merit based on their performance. The maximum award available by scholarship examination or assessment is 25% of the fees. The combined value of two or more Scholarships cannot exceed this amount.

Bursaries: these are means-tested awards and these may be awarded in addition to Scholarships or in their own right. In accordance with the Charities Commission guidelines these awards are made following the completion of a Grant Application Form (GAF) which includes a ‘Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances’. Bursaries may, in exceptional circumstances, be awarded up to 100% of the fees.
