Clifton College WebsiteHealth and FoodThe College has its own Doctor, with whom boarders are required to register. Minor ailments or cuts are dealt with by House staff and House matrons, but any serious illness or injury is immediately referred to our own extensively equipped Medical Centre (The San), where fully qualified and experienced nursing staff will assess, in conjunction with the Doctor, the correct course of action. The health of day children will, of course, be primarily a matter for parents and their family doctor. If any day child is taken ill during the school day, however, we are more than happy to look after him or her until parents can be contacted. As far as catering is concerned, we eat in the College Dining Halls but at a different time from the Upper School pupils. A cafeteria system is in operation and this ensures that there is a wide choice available to the children, including vegetarian and kosher options. Teachers sit at the ends of tables at lunch-times in order to ensure that children eat properly. The College catering is in the hands of a professional catering department, but the Headmaster and his wife take an active interest in planning the weekly menus in order to ensure that the quality of what is on offer is both of a good standard and balanced in terms of the demands of a healthy diet.
