Houses in the Prep School

New House build

See the gallery showing the exciting development of our two new Day Houses

Every child – day pupil or boarder – is assigned to a single sex House in one of the spacious Victorian dwellings that are home from home, where children learn the dynamics of living together as a community; the House is a special place where problems can be aired and confidences kept! This is a key element that enhances our care of children in times of need.

The House system gives all children a secure base throughout the day, as well as a place to express their hopes and fears to their Housemaster/Mistress and Tutors. The Houses also give parents the opportunity of daily contact with their child’s or children’s pastoral staff, whether they board at the school or not. In addition, every child is part of a small tutor group within their House, and the tutor has a key role to play in the regular monitoring of the educational and social progress and development of his or her group.

Many day children board occasionally and the School’s flexible approach to this not only meets the needs of increasingly busy parents, but also helps to enhance the 24-hour care ethos in which we all take pride.
