Guthrie house is a newly developed boarding house for boys from Year 3 to Year 6. The number of boarders is kept low to allow for a family type approach that helps us to nurture our youngest boarders.

The age of the children in Guthrie is a crucial factor that has helped to shape a relaxed and supportive environment. The house is staffed by Mr Webb (the housemaster) his wife and their two small children aged 3 and 7. The dormitory sizes vary from rooms of 2-4 pupils. The day boys in the House are welcome early in the morning and many stay for tea and prep. This allows for very flexible pick-up times with an option of occasional boarding, crucial for some parents. There are a group of House tutors who attend during the day, as well as the Housemaster. Medical support is provided by the school sanatorium and two matrons in the House.

The weekend allows for House trips and relaxation time which sees the boys going to activities such as Bowling, Ice Skating, Swimming and events around Bristol.

Steve Webb is a graduate of the College of St Mark and St John’s Plymouth and Bristol University. He is now in the process of completing a PhD in the neurocognitive disorders of ADHD, BCD and Dyslexia. Steve is also Head of Technology. Married to Agathe who teaches French in the Upper School, they have two small children. He has been a live-in tutor in two Upper Pre boarding houses and an Assistant Housemaster in Hartnell’s.
