Poole’s is a happy, vibrant and busy house and our aim is to make the girls quickly feel ‘at home’ here. Staff are always available to lend a hand, offer a friendly word of advice or a sympathetic ear. Exceptionally friendly and positive, Poole’s girls are involved in a wide range of school and House-based activities and are a multi-talented group.

Beginning September 2012 we have 56 girls aged 8-13 years of age, including 20 boarders. The House is made up of boarders and day girls; many of our day girls come to board on an occasional basis and all are welcome to make full use of our excellent House facilities. Our house team is composed of enthusiastic tutors and matrons.

  • cheerful, comfortable sitting rooms where the girls can relax and socialise;
  • an excellently resourced computer suite for prep and research work;
  • storage areas for all kit – for all pupils;
  • cosy, home-from-home dorms with real ‘bedroom’ feel;
  • a music practice room with piano;
  • a bright, colourful, dynamic environment for all to enjoy;
  • a garden area for relaxing and playing;

Recent developments include:

Bright and colourful lounge
  • a new kitchen where we offer mid-morning break, snacks, in-House supper, delicious breakfasts on Sundays and a variety of cookery activities for both day pupils and boarders;
  • a new additional dormitory;
  • new study booths have been added in the prep room.

Day girls arrive from 8am onwards and many stay on for tea and some for Prep depending on their routine and parental wishes. There is a full weekend programme of activities for the boarders to enjoy, ranging from trips to Longleat to ten pin bowling, from ice skating to jewellery making!
