Wollaston’s House is named after George Hyde Wollaston Esq (1844-1926) who was assistant master at Clifton College from 1870 to 1899.

The House currently has 37 day boys between the ages of 8 and 11. There are five tutors attached to the house, a matron and of course the Housemaster.

There are several communal rooms in the House, which have been recently decorated and upgraded.

  • The Registration Room (or ‘Reg Room’) is now a very comfortable and welcoming room - sofas and armchairs abound and there are two separate bookcases for fiction and non-fiction books. At present there are also three computers and a printer in the Reg Room, but there are plans to move these closer to the Prep Room to more ably support this popular activity!
  • There is a Games Room upstairs which houses our two snooker tables, a table football game (and a piano). The Year 4 children always seem particularly attracted to this room.
  • Downstairs (along with the Changing room and Bathroom) there is the Table Tennis Room (‘TT Room’). Here you will usually find the Year 5 and 6 boys practising their skills.

The feeling in the House is one of warmth and comfort. The boys certainly regard it as their home and the staff all strive to create a friendly atmosphere. In addition, the boys themselves are very aware of their duty to each other. They are encouraged to look out for one another wherever they may be on the school campus and always to offer help to a House mate in need.
