Clifton College WebsiteTelling Tales of GodJesus of Nazareth was a captivating storyteller. His parables about God and his Kingdom were sometimes funny, often poignant, but always memorable. The style of his theological tale-telling was highly relevant to a rural audience dependent on agriculture, viticulture and animal husbandry. Jesus set his narratives in fields, vineyards, mountain pastures and fisheries. His key characters were farmers, vine-dressers, shepherds and fishermen, and his stories featured seeds, wineskins, sheep and catches of fish. How should today's Church tell tales of God? How might his Kingdom be made more accessible to accountants, electricians, bus drivers and software engineers? Perhaps we should take a leaf out of Jesus' book? 25 January 2010 © 2006-12 Clifton College | Clifton College NewsVery Superstitious. Lunchtime Recital: Christopher Pidgeon German Lunch | ||||||
