Clifton College Website Thought for the WeekClifton College's Chaplain, Kim Taplin, brings us his 'Thought for the Week' Archive... Lessons in Living Regina Brett is an award-winning columnist for ‘The Plain Dealer’ newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Her most popular column was entitled 50 Life Lessons (2006). Each lesson was a phrase or sentence giving life-affirming counsel. Three of her wise sayings refer explicitly to God: - It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
- Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
- God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
Of the remaining 47 lessons, some of my favourites are: - When in doubt, just take the next small step.
- Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
- Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
- Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
- Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
- Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
