Clifton College WebsiteEFL (English as a Foreign Language)Pupils who do not have English as their first language are required to have a high standard of written and spoken English when they enter. However, it is important to note that they are well supported in English.
All pupils take English GCSE in the Fifth Form and to prepare for this they are taught in separate EFL sets. Pupils can also take EFL as a language option instead of French, German, Spanish or Mandarin. In addition individual lessons can be arranged (at an extra cost) to target specific weaknesses or to help with cross-curricular support with coursework. Fifth Form pupils also take the IGCSE second language exam, as do Lower Sixth entrants. Preparation for the full range of Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE and CPE) as well as IELTS and TOEFL is also available. Please also see the International Pupils section of the website. © 2006-12 Clifton College | Upper School NewsFamily fun at the UK's largest free nature festival Hockey success for Lily Owsley Schools' German Poetry Competition | ||||||||||
