Head of Italian

Italian is offered as a beginners’ course in the Sixth Form, and is taught by Mrs Maddalena Davidson, who is an Italian national. Italian is a particularly grateful language to learn if you have already studied French, Spanish or Latin, and pupils usually make fast progress, taking the GCSE in their Upper Sixth. A good grade enables you to consider spending a year in Italy as part of a degree - it also makes holidays in Italy much more enjoyable!

Recently, two Clifton students, Emma Clutton-Brock and Charlotte Hooper, were both awarded one of the top 5 marks at GCSE Italian and have gone on to read Italian as part of their degree courses, at Cambridge and at Durham respectively.
