Clifton College WebsiteRussian
Clifton is delighted to be able to offer Russian as an interest subject to the Sixth Form, run by Modern Languages teacher Mr Simon Heard. Pupils study the language, history, culture, and some literature over a one or two year period and may sit a GCSE exam. There is a thriving Russian community here at Clifton including more than 30 native Russian speakers who also take GCSE, AS and A2 exams with Mr Heard. Every year the Modern Languages’ film society shows some Russian films (including previously the single-take masterpiece “Russian Ark”) and the Russian “society” (led by the native Russians of the Upper Sixth Form) puts on an evening of Russian food and music. For a chance to unravel the "riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma" (Winston Churchill) that was, and still is, Russia, you need look no further. It is a perfect chance to improve your knowledge of current affairs, other cultures and languages and to challenge yourself intellectually with one of the more difficult languages in the world. Give it a try and broaden your horizons! ![]() ![]() © 2006-12 Clifton College | Upper School NewsFamily fun at the UK's largest free nature festival Hockey success for Lily Owsley Schools' German Poetry Competition | ||||||||
