Clifton College WebsiteEventsThe library hosts various events throughout the school year, including author visits and other activities. Paul Cornell, DC Writer![]() On February 9th, 2011, writer Paul Cornell spoke to the Group of Epic Epicness in the Science School’s Kendrew Room. Paul, who recently signed an exclusive contract with DC, opened with the exciting words, “I have brought comics to appease you...” In addition to writing for Batman, Paul has also written some of the newer episodes of Dr Who, several novels in his own right (as well as many TV tie-in novels) and is currently involved in working with Stan Lee on Lee’s newest superhero, Soldier Zero. A man with an impressive resume, Paul spoke about his work matter-of-factly and without any ego. He talked about the difficulties of writing for iconic characters like Dr Who, Batman and Joker. He spoke about making the transition from TV writing to comic writing. He regaled the students with tales of bee-keeping with Neil Gaiman, dining with Alan Moore (of V for Vendetta and Watchmen fame) and assured us all that Matt Smith will not be leaving Dr Who. ![]() After he spoke, Paul signed the comics he had generously brought and posed for pictures before taking a tour of the Percival library and viewing the library’s graphic novel collection. He also schmoozed with previous speakers Tim Coombs and Rob Williams who had returned in order to see his talk. All in all – an epic visit!
