Admissions
The Director of Admissions, Philip Hallworth, and the Admissions Officer, Sally Harvey deal with enquiries and admissions to the Upper School.
Personal visits usually take the form of a meeting with the Head Master or Director of Admissions, a tour of the School with a senior pupil, and a visit to either a
boarding or day House.
Most pupils join Clifton's Upper School at the age of 13, at which time several scholarships are offered to boys and girls with academic, musical, artistic, sporting
and all-round abilities. Full details of these may be found in the Scholarship Leaflet.
For pupils who have not previously attended a school which prepares pupils for the Common Entrance examination (average 50% - 55%+ required) we use our own tests in
Mathematics and English. This also applies to pupils who wish to enter Clifton in our 4th Form (aged about 14), to commence the two-year GCSE courses. The criteria we use
in assessing all candidates for entry is explained in the College Admissions Policy document.
We also encourage boys and girls to enter the Sixth Form, and over 30 do so each year. Our minimum entry requirement is 6 B grades at GCSE or equivalent.
Interviews usually take place in the January or February preceding entry. Scholarships are also offered at this age, as detailed in the Scholarships Leaflet.
