International Pupils

Clifton is an English boarding school that values very highly the international dimension and the cosmopolitan atmosphere brought to the School by its overseas boarders, who represent about 20% of the school.

A simple '10 Step Guide' to help with applications to Clifton College from overseas is available. The School is currently very full and successful so we have to be increasingly selective. All international students learn alongside their English counterparts so their standard of English must be high. Candidates are selected according to their general academic level and specifically their ability in English and Maths.

We welcome girls and boys from over 30 different countries with a wide range of religious and cultural diversity. Our aim is to make sure they are fully integrated in the life of the School.

We respect and celebrate the customs and practices of all different cultures – for example Chinese New Year is always celebrated by a meal and special menus in the dining hall, a Russian Society started in September 2006 and Clifton has a long tradition of providing opportunities for Jewish pupils to live and worship in the School.

We are happy to receive enquiries from overseas families either through direct contact or through one of the many agencies we work with overseas, who can provide help with translation, entry tests and admissions procedures, including visa applications.
