Scholarships and Bursaries

Each year a number of awards are offered to girls and boys in order for them to be able to come to Clifton. These are, broadly, in two categories:

Scholarships: these are merit based awards and are competed for via examination, audition or other appropriate assessment. Candidates are placed in a rank order of merit based on their performance. The maximum award available by scholarship examination or assessment is 25% of the fees. The combined value of two or more Scholarships cannot exceed this amount.

Bursaries: these are means-tested awards and are made at the School’s discretion. They are generally given in addition to a Scholarship or Award. In accordance with the Charities Commission guidelines these awards are made following the completion of a Grant Application Form (GAF) which includes a ‘Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances’. Bursaries may, in exceptional circumstances, be awarded up to 100% of the fees.
