The Future - Career Guidance

The CCF is not a recruiting organisation, but it is inevitable that, through our links with the Regular Forces, Cadets will be exposed to the challenges presented by a career with them. The qualities of Leadership we hope to develop should, of course, be of use to any Cliftonian.

If a career in the regular forces doesn’t appeal, it may be that Service in a reserve unit will be contemplated. Cadets from this CCF will be well prepared for such service. The Record of Service Book that all Cadets have whilst in the CCF, can be presented to such a Reserve unit and may help to secure more rapid promotion and responsibility.

More information about commissions in H.M. forces can be obtained from the college Armed Forces Careers Advisor, Maj Scaife. Regular visits are paid to the school by Navy, Army and RAF Schools Careers Advisor to assist prospective candidates. We also offer cadets the opportunity to experience a selection board, enabling them to fill the gaps either in specialist or general knowledge. The following staff have specific experience of life in the Armed Forces:

Cdr Scorgie – Royal Navy
Maj Scaife – Army
WO2 Hughes – Royal Marines

Old Cliftonians, Parents and the CCF

We welcome and greatly value any contact we can make with serving Officers in all branches of H.M. Forces. If, as a result of reading this booklet, any O.C., would like to rekindle connections, I would be delighted to hear from them.
