Thursday

Two girls on the 8 seater bike!

In similar fashion to the day before, we arrived on board at around 0815 following another long night of hardcore cards (well at least a couple of hours anyway). We sailed for Millport as breakfast was served. After we cleared away each of the Watches began their various tasks. On arrival we were shown where we could hire bicycles so off we went on a tour of the island however they only had 12 gears making speed a rare event – there was even a bike with not just 2 seats but 8!!! Anyway, having said speed was never going to happen we managed to complete the 10-mile island tour in a little under an hour – a well-spent £2.70! Next Rupert and I went for a stroll along the water’s edge, where we saw Britain’s narrowest house. At 1330 we were all back on the boat awaiting our next activity - Lunch!!

Britain's narrowest house

After lunch we had changed into our swimming gear, the skipper attached a plank to the side of the boat and we were given the chance to jump off. After an exhilarating fall, one after the other, we landed in the freezing sea. Marc, after some ‘encouragement’ finally took the plunge.

Another Mr. S wash, guaranteed to entertain us as well, but the salt water was doing nothing for the girls’ hair! During our return journey back to Tarbert we had the opportunity to shoot clay pigeons and attempt to catch more fish. Unfortunately for the rest of us, Marc was at the helm, and tried really hard to drive us into an island due to some interesting put-off techniques.

After we had docked at Tarbert, we were tested on our knowledge of buoys. Following an intense showdown, Starboard Watch won, which consequently lead to Port Watch accepting another forfeit. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a fairly ‘good’ one and will take place tomorrow at the leisure centre. The only problem being the slight chance of being thrown out of the pool (how does he come up with these ideas?).

At last we settled into our ‘homely’ quarters at the Templar Art and Leisure Centre.
