Clifton College WebsiteRedcliffe Early Learning CentreThere have been many interesting, exciting, and at some times dissapointing experiences at my work placement this term for Clifton in the Community. I first arrived at my placement: Redcliffe Early Learning Centre in the first week of term feeling slightly nervous and apprehensive, however I had nothing to fear. The staff were friendly and obviously very high qaulified and I had no problems with the younger children. There were many highs at the placement and almost no lows. The highs included getting to know and interact with all the children; the lows included feeling that I didnt have enough time each week with the children and the feeling that I didnt really get to teach them that much as our placement was during song time and play time then going home time. However I did teach a few children how to paint properly using correct brushstrokes which I suppose was the highest point of my placement there. It was fascinating to watch how creative the children were, from hiding in the grass from the dangers of the jungle to using building blocks to make houses to play Mummy and Daddy in. One of the weeks we made a mini garage workshop for the children and ramps for them to cycle up and down during play time – we even used the rain to our advantage by making a mini little river for the children to cycle through. This placement has broadend my creative horizons and proved an unforgetable experience. © 2006-12 Clifton College | Upper School NewsClifton trumps the weather!
