Clifton College WebsiteShooting stars![]() ![]() Further success for Cpl George Irish as he wins a place in the 2012 British Cadet Rifle Team (The Athelings) for a tour in Canada later this year. Congratulations are also due to John Molesworth (ET) for securing a Reserves place. This follows George’s phenomenal success at the sport of rifle target shooting, when in October last year George Irish shot for Gloucestershire in the Oxford Long Range Competition held upon Stickledown Range, Bisley. ![]() George was the highest scorer out of the Gloucestershire team with a score of 74 and 12 V bulls at 900 yards; and 73 with 6 V bulls at 1000 yards – and the highest attainable score being 75. V bulls are a method of gauging the inner central part of the bulls eye of the target. George was wind coached by Mr John Deane, the Captain of the Gloucestershire team. George is now one of the up and coming lights not only within Clifton College Shooting, but also further afield in the Inter County shooting fraternity. We look forward to hearing more from George in the coming months. He has a very bright future in Long Range 7.62mm Shooting competitions. 7 February 2012 © 2006-12 Clifton College | Upper School NewsClifton trumps the weather!
