The Sixth Form Café (JCR)

The newly refurbished JCR

The Junior Common Room, commonly known by the pupils as the JCR, is an exciting and fun place for the Sixth Form at Clifton College. The JCR can be found in the Crypt under the Chapel, making it a cosy and welcoming place for the numerous events held there. Evenings from summer barbeques to themed nights are held in the JCR, but most importantly it is a place for the students to socialise and to relax.

Paninis and other food are available to the pupils

The idea behind the JCR is that it is a café style environment providing Sixth Form students with a choice of hot and cold drinks alongside a selection of snacks at break time. One of the best things about the JCR is the lunches available; there is a free choice of food varying from sandwiches to jacket potatoes, but there is also a cheap option of purchasing paninis and hot sandwiches. The paninis and hot sandwiches are made on site to order, and it is possible to order them at break time. This means that the pupils can enjoy a more sociable lunch space which is exclusive to the Sixth form.

6th Form pupils relaxing

In the JCR there is a Freeview television and a Playstation, along with a variety of newspapers, magazines and books making break times more enjoyable. There is information on UCAS there and numerous university prospectuses which are provided by the JCR’s UCAS rep. There are also computers allowing pupils to work and check their emails in the JCR.

The JCR is looked after day to day by the JCR Steward. However, there is also a JCR Committee which organises and runs the events in the JCR to cater for pupil’s needs.
