Athletics

Athletics is a very popular summer sport with the pupils of Clifton Upper School. We normally have 60-70 athletes of varying standards. Our weekly training programme:

Monday:	Carousal of events to ensure that all athletes have been coached at all the events
Tuesday:	SAQ for the sprinters Long Distance runs Power, Core and Gym work for throwers
Thursday:	Whole squad training at Whitchurch with a rotation of 3 events
Saturday:	Fixtures

Our fixtures are unfortunately always away and we compete in inter school competitions held at Malborough, Milfield and Bromsgrove. There are opportunities for able athletes to compete in the Nationals with the pathway being: Bristol Schools Trials, Avon Championships, South West Championships and Nationals. In the past we have had several athletes reach the National Finals:

Rhys Roydon – High Jump
Fred Adomako – Triple Jump
Yannick Budd – 400m Hurdles
Kwame Fordwar – 200m
Lily Owsley – 800m
Max Cresswell – Javelin

We also hold a Victor Ludorum Trophy for the best athlete over 5 different events and this is awarded every year.
