Aims of the Sport

Boy’s hockey has grown remarkably over the past 5 years. More boys are opting to play the sport and recently this rise in popularity has brought great success. Based on a good grounding in the Pre School, Upper School boys are enjoying wins at County and Regional level, but all abilities can be catered for and players new to the game are welcomed.

Venues:

The school grounds at Beggar Bush (BB) have 3 sand-dressed floodlit Astro turf facilities.

Number of Teams Run:

5 teams play at senior level and 4 at junior level.

Achievements/Honours:

U14 Avon County Champions 2007, 2008, 2009. Regional 3rd place in 2007 and 2008.
U16 Avon County Champions Runners up 2008, 2009.
U18 Avon County Champions 2009.

Major Fixtures/Competitions Entered:

Fixture list includes: Sherbourne, Prior Park, BGS, Taunton School, KES Bath.

Important Coaches:

Ian Turnbull, Tim Martin, David Atkinson and Louise Catchpole.

Development:

The development of a 3rd Astro turf pitch is being considered. Teams are to be entered into the National Schools Indoor Championships.
