Who are the Website Committee?

As the Student Website Committee is only open to Sixth Formers, we inevitably lose one or two members as the years go by. Their contributions are still valued, and are still available for you to read. Find out who our past contributors are.
Julia Burmeister

Julia Burmeister joined Clifton last year in the Lower Sixth and is now studying French, Italian, Mathematics and Economics for A-Level. In the future, she wants to do something on the international basis as she is very keen to explore different cultures and parts of the world. Julia loves travelling around and is always with a camera in her hand. She is very excited about the upcoming year working with the School website team.

Ocean Critchley-Clark

Ocean Critchley-Clark Having been at Clifton since the Third Form, Ocean has always made the most of the art facilities at the School and has a keen interest in all aspects of art. She is now studying History of Art, Photography, Psychology and Art at A-level; and she hopes to go on to read History of Art at university in 2012. Ocean has won the subject prizes for psychology, history of art and photography in her Lower Sixth year. She is most likely to be writing for the website about various art, photography and art exhibitions in and out of School.

Jacob Dirnhuber

Jacob Dirnhuber joined Clifton mid-way through year seven. Now in the Upper 6th, he is studying English Literature, English Language, Politics and History at A Level. Jacob holds aspirations to be a journalist after attending university. Jacob's interests include current affairs and football.


Elizabeth Edwards

Elizabeth Edwards joined the Lower Sixth in 2010 and is currently studying Biology, English Language and Geography. At university she would like to study anthropology, therefore she takes a particular interest in writing about cultural and contemporary geographical issues throughout the world today. She is also passionate about music and enjoys reviewing concerts and gigs she has attended. She aspires to be a journalist; therefore working for the website committee is an ideal opportunity to improve her creative writing and investigative skills.

Johny Gill

Johny Gill began life in Clifton in nursery year and is now studying English Language, English Literature, French and German for AS Level. Passionate about German from an early age, partaking in various exchanges, and winning the subject prizes since Third Form, he hopes to find a job in the German media in the near future. Other interests include sailing with the School team, climbing and acting: as a member of East Town’s Lower Sixth, he has joined the House play cast for the past three years running.

Estere Kajema

Estere Kajema is someone who is very likely to be talking about contemporary art and all unknown and absolutely non-mainstream kinds of music, Natalie Portman or Latvia. Right now Estere is going through her final year in Clifton and is studying History, History of Art and French. Her biggest inspiration comes from Mark Rothko, Frida Kahlo, Janis Joplin and Frederic Beigbeder. Estere’s life ambitions are to be an art collector, travel to South America on a little boat and write articles for Esquire and Gentlewoman.

Maddy Walters

Maddie Walters is in the Lower Sixth in West Town, and is currently studying English, History, Psychology, Philosophy and Art, and hopes to go on to University to study English Literature. She greatly enjoys writing, baking and drawing, and her greatest ambition is one day to become a published author. She cites her greatest inspirations as Harper Lee, Jeanette Winterson and JK Rowling.

Zoe Ward

Zoe Ward is a Worcester House Upper Sixth having begun her Clifton career in Third Form. She is studying Economics, Maths and French for A Level and hopes to pursue a career in Economics after university. Sport and music are two big loves of hers, particularly singing in the School Soul Band! Being keen on journalism, both the writing and editing aspects, has led her to become a keen member of the School website committee.

Chris Weale

Chris Weale is now a member of the lively Upper Sixth in East Town. He has been at Clifton for fourteen years and is interested in languages, news in Europe, and football and he enjoys writing on a plethora of topics. Around the College, he will often be found in the Languages department, since French, Spanish, Latin and English are his A Level subjects. With an interest in literature, Chris reads books which are both English and foreign, and this has led him to pursue interests in Art, Film and Drama – cultural activities which he never had imagined himself enjoying. But, culture aside, Chris frequents the Junior Common Room or any sports field, and will happily discuss any topic of conversation mentioned above, as well as any which someone might propose to him.
